Explanation:

It was India's first civil disobedience movement. Launched by Mahatma Gandhi, its motive was to protest against the injustice meted out to tenant farmers in Champaran district of Bihar. It is widely regarded as the place where Gandhi made his first experiments in satyagraha and then replicated them elsewhere.

Explanation:

In 1916, Gandhiji organized his first satyagraha in Champaran,Bihar. The people of Champaran grew indigo plantation. It destroyed the soil fertility. Later farmers wanted to grow food grains to feed their families. Due to the infertility of soil they could not grow anything. They could not pay the revenue and yet they were forced to. Gandhiji began to talk with the Britishers about reducing the revenue and he was successful in doing so.
