It is a property of a space, which is a main cause for the expanding of universe.
A mysterious quantity known as dark energy makes up 3/4s of the universe and yet scientists is not only sure about what it is but how it operates.Previously , physicists had assumed that the attractive force of gravity would slow down the expansion of universe over time , but when two independent teams tried to measure the Rate of deceleration, they found that the expansion was actually speeding up and that is cause of dark energy.
