g(d) =g[1−dR],

where g is acceleration due to gravity, d is depth of mine and R is radius of Earth, and g(d)refers to the value of g at the depth d.

Applying the values in the above equation:

g=9.8[1−10006371000]

=9.7985m/s2.

Hence, difference in weight

=mg−mg(d)

=500(9.8–9.7985)=0.7691kg.
