When both the kidneys are damaged, the person cannot survive due to accumulation of toxic wastes in the body. Therefore, the nitrogenous wastes from the blood need to be removed periodically by artificial kidney or the dialysis machine. The process of filtering blood for the removal of wastes by the machine is called dialysis.
