Acid :-

An acid is any chemical compound which when dissolved in water gives a solution with a hydrogen ion activity greater than in pure water.

Base :-

A base is an aqueous substance that can accept hydrogen ions. An acid is an substance which donates a proton. A base is any substance which accepts a proton.

Q.2 What are indicators?

Ans . A pH indicator is a halochromic chemical compound added in small amounts to a solution so the pH of the solution can be determined visually.

Q.3 Name some natural and human made indicators?

Ans . A natural indicator is a natural substance that can be used to determine the pH of another substance. Red Cabbage and grape juice are examples of natural indicators. A synthetic indicator is a man made chemical substances used to determine pH.

Q.4 What is the function of pancreas and abdomen

Ans . Enzymes, or digestive juices, are secreted by the pancreas into the small intestine. There, it continues breaking down food that has left the stomach.

Ans . ants sting as a natural defence mechanism. It is quite fatal for those ants as after stinging, their stinger is lost and they forcibly release formic acid from their poison gland.

Q.2 Why zinc carbonate is present in calamine solution?

Ans . Calamine solution contains zinc carbonate which is basic in nature. Therefore, it is applied on the skin to neutralize the effect of formic acid.
