One key to India's democracy is its development of strong institutions. Its Supreme Court and its election commission have managed to remain relatively independent of politics. ... Another difference in political culture is that India is a secular state and Pakistan is a specifically Muslim state.

In Indian democracy, the citizens of India ‘elect’ a political candidate as mandated under the Constitution of the Republic of India and this is overseen by the Election Commission of India, New Delhi. Elected politicians who fail to deliver are not voted in the successive elections or dismissed by the President of India in accordance to the acts specified in the Constitution of India. The Indian Armed Forcesparticiate in the election just as their civilian counterparts.
In Pakistani ‘Democracy’, the Pakistani Armed Forces ‘select’ the political candidate. This is entirely overseen by the General Head Quarters, Rawalpindi. Selected politicians who fail to tow the Army’s line are either disposed by means of military coup, Supreme Court ruling or Assassinated. The civilian population of Pakistan just stand-by helplessly and watch the tragic turn of events that turn the Islamic Republic of Pakistan into a three-ring circus for the rest of the civilized world to mock.
