Displacement reaction : In this reaction the compound with higher reactivity displaces the compound with lower reactivity.
Let's take an example to understand more clearly.
Fe + CuSO4 ---------> FeSO4 + Cu
In this reaction iron is more reactive than copper and Iron displaces Copper and forms Iron sulphate.
