DOCTRINE OF LAPSE WAS INTRODUCED BY LORD DALHOUSIE .ACCORDING TO THIS TREATY,IF ANY RULER DIED WITHOUT A NATURAL HEIR(SON) HIS KINGDOM WOULD BE ANNEXED BY THE BRITISHERS AND THE KING WAS NOT ALLOWED TO ADOPT ANY SON AS HIS SUCCESORS.
