drought occurs when there is shortage of water due to low or no rainfall.it is an insidious natural hazard that results from a departure of precipitation from expected normal levels.

it affect mostly rainfed crops first and subsequently irrigated crops.

Low rainfall and leading to a shortage of water result in drought.

Consequences of drought are :-

(1) Habitat damage.

(2) Affecting both terrestrial and aquatic animals.

(3) Dehydration.

(4) Lack of water for irrigation.

(5) It provide very little amount of water to crops.
