Election Commission is that political body of India whose function is to conduct fee - and -fair elections.

In our country the elections are conducted by a very powerful and independent Election Commission (EC).

It is headed by the Chief Election Commissioner ( CEC ), he/she is appointed by the president of India.

He enjoys the powers which are equal to the Judge of Supreme Court, after his/her appointment it is almost impossible to remove him.    

EC takes decisions on every aspect of conduct and control of elections from the announcement of the elections to the result. 

It enhances the quality of elections and ensures free - and - fair elections in India.
