The fusion of male gamete and egg cell to form the zygote is called fertilization. One male gamete fuses with the egg cell forming a diploid zygote by the process of fertilization.

The zygote divides many times to form the embryo.

Second male gamete fuses with the 2 polar nuclei of the ovule to form endosperm. This fusion is called triple fertilization
