FORCE : the force which opposes the relative motion between two surfaces in contact is called friction. The force of friction always opposes the applied force that may be push or pull.
types of friction are:
rolling friction: when a body roll over the surface of another body , the resistance to its motion is called sliding friction.
sliding friction: when a body slides over the surface of another body , the resistance to its motion is called sliding friction.
fluid friction: the force exerted by fluids on objects in motion through them is called fluid friction.
static friction: the force required to overcome friction at the instant an objects starts moving from rest is the measure of static friction

Whenever a body moves or tends to moves over the surface of another body , then a force comes into play which act parallel to the surface of contact and oppose the relative motion. the opposing force is what ??
off course !!
" FRICTION "
Friction force always act on surface in contact. this is depends upon normal reaction between contacting surface .
e.g Friction (fr) = u × N
where u is coefficient of friction.
There are mainly three types of " Friction Force ".
(1) STATIC friction :- act until , there is no relative motion between surface in contact .
e.g. surface in contact at rest in STATIC friction.
(2) KINETIC friction :- start to act when there is translative relative motion between surface in contact.
(3) ROLLING friction :- start to act when there is rotational relative motion between surface in contact.
