The material which is burnt to produce heat energy is known as fuel.

  • Example of fuels are- wood,coal,cooking gas (LPG),kerosene,diesel,petrol,coal, alcohol etc.

The usefulness of a fuel is measured in terms of its calorific values.

The amount of heat produced by burning a unit mass of the fuel completely is known as it's calorific values.
