Growth inhibition refers to the stopage of growth at a certain point of time.
the word Inhibits growth refers to 'prevent' growth nd abscisic acid is one example of a hormone which inhibits growth.

Growth inhibition is the process of elongation of root and stem, germination of seed, opening of bud or breaking the dormancy of bud and ripening of fruits.

Hormones like Auxin, Gibberellin, Cytokinins and Ethylene are growth inhibitors in plants.
