The hilus is the point of entry and exit of the renal arteries and veins, lymphatic vessels, nerves, and the enlarged upper extension of the ureters.

the role of  excretory system

Eliminating waste products such as urea, uric acid ammonia, and other chemical products through  urine.

And it also helps in the metabolism of those drugs that do not get metabolized in the liver (some of the medicines do  not get fully utilised are also removed through urine)

Collect water and filter body fluids.

return other substances to body fluids as necessary for homeostasis.

(some of the essential elements   also come  inside the excretory system which are reabsorbed )
