Hypoxia is the deficiency of O2 at tissue level. This condition might occur due to following reasons:
Low pO2 in arterial blood due to high altitude (mountain sickness), obstruction in airways or fluid accumulation in alveoli as in case of pneumonia.
Due to anemia which results in low O2 carrying capacity of blood.
Restricted or inadequate blood flow to tissue.
Due to cyanide poisoning.
