The Supreme Court is the final judge in all cases involving laws of Congress, and the highest law of all — the Constitution. The Supreme Court, however, is far from all-powerful. Its power is limited by the other two branches of government. The President nominates justices to the court.
The Parliament of India is the supremelegislative body of the Republic of India. The Parliament is composed of the President of India and the houses. It is a bicameral legislature with two houses: the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and the Lok Sabha (House of the People).
Politicians would have long torn India if SC were not given such powers. It is my opinion that just after the independence, the constitution makers feared that the executive will overpower the legislature and today, I think, the executive has become very weak and the judiciary and legislature have become more powerful that anticipated. We see good officers transferred randomly!
Constitution is a never ending stuff….
