Intercropping is a practice involving growing two or more crops simultaneously on a same piece of land..... Such planning will ensure the added yield advantage for the farmers from multiple crops. Inter cropping also helps in providing mutual benefits to the crops.....

Inter cropping :-

\bold{Intercropping} is the growth of two or more crops simultaneously in the same field in definite row pattern.

A few rows of one crop alternate with a few rows of a second crop e.g. Soybean + maize, or bajra (finger millet) + labia (cow pea).

Row patterns like 1 : 1, 1 : 2 or 1 : 3 can be followed. This means for growing purpose, they should be one row main crop and one, two or three rows of intercrop . Crops are selected in a fashion that their nutrients needs differ.

Advantages of Inter cropping :-

\bold{1)} It ensures maximum utilisation of nutrients.

\bold{2)} It checks spreading of pests and diseases to all plants.

\bold{3)} Both crops can give better returns.‏‏‎ ‎
