A wave in which particles of medium oscillates along direction of propagation of wave is defined as longitudinal wave.
It can produced in solid and liquid.
Ex : Sound wave, water wave (in water surface)

Longitudanal wave is basically a wave which shows its vibration in the direction of propogation. Longitudanal waves can be produced in solids or liquids..
