Computer:-

The word computer has been originated from the Latin word "Computerae" which means "to compute" or "to calculate".

A computer is an advanced electronic device that accepts, processes and stores data and instructions entered by a user. These instructions are given by user based on his needs.

For example, to play a game on your computer, you instruct your computer to open your favorite game by clicking on the small image or icon of the game and the computer opens the game based on your instruction.

Computer ranges from super computers that are large in size and have the highest computing capabilities to tiny computers embedded in cars, calculators, washing machines and other appliances. We are often surrounded by multiple computers of various shapes and sizes.

Beside shape and size, computers also differ from each other in the terms of their speed and use. Some of the types of computers are:-

i) Desktop computers

ii) Laptops

iii) Tablet PC or Tabs

iv) Smartphones

v) Game console

vi) Embedded computers

vii) Supercomputers

viii) Mainframes
