Road density is the ratio of the length of the country's total road network to the country's land area.
Road transportation in India faces a number of problems.The problems so faced are given as follows:-
1)Volume of traffic and passengers.
2)Road network is adequate.
3)Half of roads are unmetalled and this limits their usage in the rainy season.
4)National highways are inadequate too.
5)Roadways are highly congested in cities and most of the bridges and culverts are old and narrow.
