Gibbs free energy is the measure of the potential for reversible and maximum work tha may be doneby a system at constant temperature and pressure. It is a thermodynamic property that was defined 1876 by Josiah Willard Gibbs.

Hope it's help you... : ))

Definition: "The change in Gibbs free energy is equal to the change in enthalpy minus the product of temperature and entropy change of the system."

  • At a constant temperature and pressure, the maximum amount work that a thermodynamic system can do is known as Gibbs energy
  • Gibbs free energy is a state function.
  • Gibbs free energy is independent of the path i.e. it does not depend on the path.
  • Gibbs Free energy is a thermodynamic property that was defined by Josiah Willard Gibbs in  1876.
