An ecosystem incorporates the majority of the living things (plants, creatures and living beings) in a given region, interfacing with each other, furthermore with their non-living situations (climate, earth, sun, soil, atmosphere, air). For example, consider a small puddle, there you can find all sorts of living things, from microorganisms to insects and plants. These may depend on non-living things like water, sunlight, turbulence in the puddle, temperature, atmospheric pressure and even nutrients in the water for life.

Ecology is defined as the study of the relationship of organisms with their environment.
