Before the guilt has been produced with final judgements (for example, fine/sentenced to hang), he/she is produced before the judge in the court to analyse the evidences collected regarding the crime with a public prosecutor and group of lawyers. Gathering all the evidences and facts given by the accused person, the judgement is done.  In simple terms, a trial which is observed by the judge without showing partiality.

Hope it helps. :)
