Ketal means a functional group bearing two alkyl groups and two alkoxy groups on one carbon atom within the chain. Example ketons react with ethylene glycol in the presence of dry HCI gas to give a cyclic product known as ethylene glycol ketals.

Ketal is the process in which the compound will be formed when ketone is heated up with ethylene glycol.
This will occur while keeping HCl gas as the catalyst which will give us the gem-dialkocy alkane or ketal group.
You can take an example of keeping Propane and Ethylene glycol and it will give us propanone ethylene.
