Power of lens : The reciprocal of focal length is power lens.

S.I unit : Diaptore.

focal length (f¹) =40cm =40/100 m (changing focal length into meters ).

focal length (f²) = -20cm = -20/100 m

=> P=1/f¹

P =1/40/100

P=100/40

P=2.5 D.

=> P=1/f²

P = 1/-20/100

P =100/-20

P = -5D.

Nature of lens whose focal length is 40 cm is virtual and erect

Nature of lens whose focal length is -20cm is real and inverted.
