The ovary releasesone egg every month. The uterus also prepares itself every month to receive to receive a fertilized egg. The inner uterus lining (endometrium) becomes thick and issupplied with blood to nourish the embryo. If the egg is not fertilized, then the uterus lining is not required. Hence, it breaks down and is released in the form of blood and mucus through the vagina. This process lasts for 2-8 days. This cycle occurs every month and is known asmenstruation. Hence, the menstrual cycle is the reproductive cycle in the female body. It begins with the onset of puberty.

Hope the answer is clear to you.

Hey buddy.. here is your answer..

During puberty, males and females are capable of reproduction. They start producing sperms and ovums repectively.
In females, the reproductive phase starts from 9-12 years and lasts till 40-44 years. The producation of mature ova starts at this period. One mature ova is released at a time of every 25-30 days.

During this period, the wall of the uterus beacomes thick and waits to receive an fertilised egg. In case fertilisation takes place, pregnancy occurs, if not, the inner lining of the uterus along with blood vessels are shed off. This causes bleeding in women called menstruation. This cycle continues till the age of 40-44 years.

Hope its helpful..
