°°°MITOCHONDRIA°°°
Mitochondria are known as the powerhouses of the cell. The energy required for various chemical activities needed for life is released by mitochondria in the form of ATP i.e. Adenosine triphopshate molecules. ATP is known as the energy currency of the cell. Mitochondria are strange organelles in the sense that they have their own DNA and ribosomes i.e. they have their own genetic material. Therefore, mitochondria are able to make some of their own proteins.

\huge{Mitochondria\::}

Mitochondria are small rod shaped like organelles. It is double membrane structure. It is easily visible under microscope. Outer membrane is smooth and forms the continuous limiting boundary of the organelle. The inner membrane is projected into numerous finger like structures.

It has its own DNA and RNA.

Found in Aerobic Eukaryotic cells.

\huge{Function\::}

1) They provide energy for vital activities of cell

2) They store release energy during reactions in the form of ATP. Therefore they are known as power house of cells.

3) Some amino acids are also formed in it.
