nerest not nernst equation
nernst equation related to electrochemistry .it established a relation between electrode potential and concentration of solution .

For a general oxidation half -cell reaction
M (s) ---------> M+n (aq) +ne-
nernst equation is ,
thus ,
Eoxi=E"oxi-0.05291/n log [M+n (aq)]
where Eoxi is the oxidation potential of electrode (anode), E"oxi is the standard electrode potential (oxidation)

For general half-cell reduction reaction, .
M+n (aq) +ne- --------> M (s)

nernst equation , is
Ered=E"red -0.0591/nlog 1/[M+n(aq)]

now for general redox reaction ,
Ecell=Eoxi +Ered =E"oxi +E"red -0.0591/nlog[product]/[reactant]

hence ,
Ecell =E"cell - 0.0591/nlog [product]/[reactant]
