It  has three functions:

• a sensory ,  
• an interpretative  
• a motor  

Sensory nerves function is to  gather details from inside,outside body  

• Carry information to CNS
• It is higly complex

It contains two types :  glial cells ,neurons .

Neurons

• special  cells are called-the neuron

glial cells

• non neuronal cells that give nutrition,
• maintain myelin,  
• Helps signal transmission to the nerves

Neurons and synapses:

• Most neurons transmit  signals through their axons

• Types of neurons called amacrine cells
• cell-Transmit signal through Synaptic contact to another cell
• Synapses may be electrical or chemical. Electrical synapses make direct electrical contact between neurons
