The nucleoid (meaning nucleus-like) is an irregularly shaped region within thecell of a prokaryote that contains all or most of the genetic material. it is present in prokaryotic cell.
It is different from nucleus of eukaryotic cell bcz it is not surrounded by nuclear membrane
