The collection of numbers is called the number system.

There are 7 types of numbers

\bf \Large \hookrightarrow \: Natural \: \: Numbers

Counting numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4 and etc , are called Natural numbers.

\bf \Large \hookrightarrow \: Whole \: \: Numbers

The number that starts from 0 , is known as whole numbers.

  • For Example - 0 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 and etc.

\bf \Large \hookrightarrow \: Integers

The collection of all positive and negative numbers including 0 are called integers

For example - 2 , -3 , 0 , 1 , 5 and etc.

\bf \Large \hookrightarrow \: Rational \: \: Numbers

A number that can be represented in the form p/q, where p and q are integers and q ≠ 0 , are called a rational number.

  • For example - 5/9 , 7/11 , 0/1 and etc.

\bf \Large \hookrightarrow \: Irrational \: \: Numbers

The numbers which are not a rational number and these numbers are not represented in the form of p/q , are called irrational numbers.

  • √2 is an irrational number,

\bf \Large \hookrightarrow \: Complex \: \: Numbers

Complex numbers are the numbers that are expressed in the form of a + ib where, a , b are real numbers and 'i' is an imaginary number.

  • For Example 7 + 9i.

\bf \Large \hookrightarrow \: Imaginary \: \: Numbers

An imaginary number is a number that, when squared, has a negative result.

  • For example -5 , -34 and etc.
