Osmosis is the movement of water molecules in and out of the cell through a selectively permeable membrane while diffusion is the process of moving in and out of the cell through a selectively permeable membrane but they may be solid , liquids and gases

2) Diffusion is the process by which a substance movement fronm higher concentration to lower concentration. In this there is no need of semi-preamble membrane.
