Osmosis is a type of diffusion in which solvent molecules move from its higher concentration to lower concentration through a semi-permeable membrane until the equilibrium is attained. It's importance: Cell to cell movement of water takes place by osmosis.

" Osmosis "

Osmosis is the process by which water moves in or out through the semipermeable membrane.

It involves only movemnet of solvent molecules.

This is the only way by which a cell can get water for use, it is major importance.
