Periderm:

  • The periderms are form of the secondary dermal tissue which replaces the 'epidermis' along 'older stems and roots'. In the angiosperm, the dermal tissue is the source of the periderm.
  • The peridium layer is formed due to tissue damage or obsession or due to microbial infection.
  • The peridium forms the protective tissue for the development of secondary tissue and ultimately destroys, the 'epidermis of the primary plant body'.
