Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants make their own using sunlight, carbon-dioxide, water and chlorophyll.

They obtain sunlight in the day. So, photosynthesis is not possible in night as there is no sunlight. At night, plants respire like humans do.

They obtain carbon-dioxide from the surrounding air.

They obtain water from the xylem tubes in plants. When the leaves pull water from the xylem tubes, the roots also pull water from the soil. This process is called transpirational pull or root pressure.

Chlorophyll, a green pigment is present in the leaves in organelles called chloroplasts. Chlorophyll traps the sunlight.

Glucose and oxygen are the products of photosynthesis.
