placenta is very important to the baby .it gives nutrition and nourishment to the baby.

Placenta is temporary association between foetal and maternal tissues.

Imp:-
#It act as a barrier between foetus and mother. #Although there is no blending of the two blood supplies, the placenta act as an ultrafilter, soluble nutrients, hormones, antibodies, etc. can pass from mother to foetus.
#It helps in exchange of gases.

The umbilical cord connects the foetus to the placenta.
