Primary data: Data collected by the investigator himself/ herself for a specific purpose.

Examples: Data collected by a student for his/her thesis or research project.

Secondary data: Data collected by someone else for some other purpose (but being utilized by the investigator for another purpose).

Examples: Census data being used to analyze the impact of education on career choice and earning.

Answer:

Primary data - Primary data is the data that is authentic and raw. This data is collected by the investigator. Primary data is available in an unsystematic manner. The investigator has to mold the data as per the need of the project. Primary data is involved cost and time to analyze.

But,

Secondary data - Secondary data is data that already exists. These data are ready to be used. Secondary data is not as authentic as per the primary one. Secondary data is a comparative study of the primary project. It involves less time and cost to assist.
