Answer:

It is the ratio of velocity of light in first medium to velocity of light to second medium. It says that how much times the light travels slower in the given medium.

= \frac{v_{1} }{v_{2} }

where

v1 = speed of light in vacuum.

v2  = speed of light in given medium.

It can be also represented as

sin∠i  / sin∠r = constant known as refractive index
