Relative humidity is the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor in the air (which is related to the actual amount present) divided by the vapor pressure of water at that same temperature (which is related to the maximum amount amount of water vapor that the air can hold at that temperature)

Relative humidity is the ratio of the amount of water vapour in the air at a particular temperature to the maximum amount of water vapour the air can hold at that temperature. Relative humidity is always expressed in percentage (%). At 100%, air is said to be saturated. Relative humidity is measured with the help of an instrument called hygrometer. The relative humidity varies through the day, and changes with the change in temperature.
