Answer:

The process in which a vector is broken down into two or more components is called the resolution of vectors. Each component of a vector acts in different directions. We can resolve a vector into a number of components along the axis. Generally, there are three components of a vector.

component along X-axis is known as a horizontal component.

component along Y-axis is known as a vertical component.  

A third component is along Z-axis.

For example, a vector V has two Vx and Vy components along X and Y axis respectively.
