when light passes through from one medium to any other medium the light is absorbed by particles of the medium preceded by its subsequent radiation in particular direction this phenomenon is called as scattering of light

Ex.. when sunlight strikes molecules in our atmosphere,the light is redirection in many directions. the sky is bright because molecules and particles in the air scattering sunlight.
