due to the presence of electrons in inner sub shell there will be reduction of attraction between the nucleus n outermost electrons
this is referred to be screening effect
the inner most electrons act as shield to outer most electrons to experience the effective nuclear charge

Answer: Screening effect will leads to decrease in ionization enthalpy which further decrease in effective nuclear charge.

Explaination:

Screening effect.

The phenomenon of the inner shell electrons reducing the nucleus's force of attraction on the outermost valence electrons is known as the screening effect or shielding effect.

Relation between screening/shielding effect and effective nuclear charge.

  • The nuclear force and effective nuclear charge is inversely correlated to ionization enthalpy because a stronger nuclear force attracts its valence electrons, which increases ionisation energy.
  • Therefore, it will effectively bind electrons, making it challenging to release them. Therefore, the energy needed for removal will be larger.
