Secular is the opposite of sacred. Secularization refers to the declining influence of religion and religious values within a given culture. Secular humanism means, loosely, a belief in human self-sufficiency.

There are many countries that are secular in nature, the USA, Russia, China, Britain, sweden, Switzerland, etc. The one we all know of that is not a secular country is Vatican City. Yes, the vatican is a country, the world’s smallest country. Vatican City is a self governing nation of Catholics, solely run by the Roman Catholic Church.

The other non-secular countries are those ruled by Islam, for example Iran, in which religious leaders and Sharia law rules.
