The DNA of a cell contains genes that r responsible for what we r. Chromosomes comes in pairs. Each cell in human body has 23 pairs of chromosomes ( 46 total chromosomes ). In each pair, one chromosome comes from mother and the other from the father. 22pairs r autosomes and the 23rd pair is called sex chromosome which r labeled X and Y chromosomes.

Female have 2 chromosomes ( XX ) and males have one X and one Y chromosome ( XY ). Each gamete has only one sex Chromosome. An egg has X chromosome. A sperm may have X or a Y chromosome.

Its clear from the attachment that the mother always contributes an X chromosome to the child.

• If the father contributes an X chromosome, the baby will be a girl.
• If the father contributes a Y chromosome, the baby will be a boy ( XY ).
