The removal of top layer of soil is called soil erosion.
Steps to control soil erosion in hilly regions are as follows-
1- CONTOUR PLOUGHING - By ploughing near contour lines we could reduce soil erosion as contour lines will slow down the flow of water during heavy rainfalls.
2- TERRACE FARMING - In this type of farming steps of land are made on hill slopes so that they could slow down the flow of water and could control soil erosion.
