Ca + Al^+3 → Al + Ca^+2

Here two reaction are occurring .
(1) Oxidation reaction of Ca
Ca → Ca^+2 + 2e -------(1)

(2) reduction reaction of Al ,
Al^+3 +3e → Al -----------(2)

multiply 3 with eqn (1) and 2 with eqn (2) and then add ,

3Ca → 3Ca^+3 + 6e
2Al^+3 + 6e → 2Al

===================

3Ca + 2Al^+3 → 3Ca^+3 + 2Al

hence, coefficient of Ca is 3 .
