Stomata are small pores present in the leaf. They are surrounded by gaurd cells which help in closening and opening of stomata.

Their functions performed by them are as follows-:

1)They allow exchange of gases from the surrounding medium. Usually, carbon dioxide is taken up and oxygen is released.

2) They allow transpiration.
