Tertian fever occurs in tertian type of malaria. Benign tertian malaria is caused by infection due to Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium ovale in which fever recurs every second day i.e. fever occurs on Monday and Wednesday skipping a day in between. while malignant tertian malaria is caused by Plasmodium falciparum in which the fever stage is more long as compare to the cold stage.
