Given : leftover silver rectangle obtained after removing largest square from A4

To find : area of the leftover silver rectangle

Solution:

A4 paper  size  = 210  mm * 297   mm

Area of A4 Size paper = 210 * 297  =   62370 mm²

Largest square that  can be cut  = 210 mm * 210 mm

area of largest square cut  = 44100 mm²

area of the leftover silver rectangle  = 62370  - 44100

= 18270 mm²

or area of the leftover silver rectangle  = 210 * 297 - 210 * 210

= 210 ( 297 - 210)

= 210 * 87

= 18270 mm²
